MECHANICAL DESIGNER 2D

Introduction

Hello,
I’m Jérémy from Fed Manutech, Recruitment Consultant.

The Opportunity
If you have a strong interest in 2D mechanical design and thrive in high-speed production environments, this opportunity is worth exploring. I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading global player in beverage packaging, with bottling lines operating in over 190 countries. Their pre-sales team in Laval is looking for a mechanical designer who can translate client requirements into robust, costed, and compelling technical solutions.

Mission

Your Role
As part of the pre-sales team, you will act as the technical bridge between client needs and proposed solutions.. This is a key aspect of the role: it is intended for someone who enjoys 2D design and wants to grow within this environment long term.

You will perform the necessary calculations to validate system performance (speed, flow, accumulation), ensuring compliance with layout constraints, industry standards, ergonomics, and accessibility. You will also be involved in analyzing RFPs, reviewing supplier technical data, estimating costs, and collaborating closely with sales, engineering, and clients. Occasional travel will be required for site surveys and client meetings.

Your Profile
• Technical diploma (DEC) in mechanical or industrial engineering
• 6 months to 2 years of relevant experience (junior to intermediate level)
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D with a desire to specialize
• Initial experience in material handling, conveyors, or automation
• Solid analytical skills (RFPs, performance, reliability, risk assessment)
• Comfortable with MS Office; ERP knowledge is a plus
• Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)
Working Conditions
Permanent position based in Laval within a well-established international company. Competitive compensation with annual bonus, group insurance (80% employer-paid), retirement plan with employer match (4–6%), vacation based on experience, sick leave, employee assistance program, on-site parking, subsidized cafeteria, continuous training, and social activities. Occasional travel adds variety without impacting work-life balance.
