Mission
Lead a small team of accounting technicians, and oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including A/P, A/R, cash receipts, and general ledger.
• Daily verification/reconciliation and maintenance of investment portfolio transactions on software platform.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations, including all brokerage accounts in investment portfolio.
• Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly financial reports, budget variance analysis and financial statements before presenting them to the Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly sales tax declarations, as well as periodic GST/PST filings for various legal entities.
• Initiate and execute software and process improvements. Maintain a systematic and organized filing system for the documents and files of all the legal entities.
• Assist with annual budget and forecast preparation.
• Assist in annual tax filings.
• Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Your profile
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4-6 years of overall accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial role (Corporate Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar). Big 4 accounting firm or investment industry experience is an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and ASPE standards.
• Experience creating financial statements and in using a full scope ERP system(s); experience with Sage Intacct is an asset.
• Experience with multi-entity organizational structures is required; investment accounting experience is an asset.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite software, and experience with Gen AI tools (i.e., CoPilot) is an asset.
• Experience with payroll is an asset.
