Hello, I'm Bianka, Senior Team Leader at Fed Finance, a recruitment firm specializing in accounting, finance, and payroll positions. I handle both temporary and permanent recruitment in the Greater Montreal area.
Mission
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance oversees the accounting operations of a group comprising several entities. He/she supervises the work of the accounting team, performs the monthly closing of the accounting books, supports senior management in financial planning activities, and acts as a resource person for external stakeholders.
**Position Responsibilities**
• Carry out month-end activities for each entity under his/her responsibility (inventory variation entries, accruals, adjustments, regularizations, system reconciliations, provisions, report reviews, etc.);
• Prepare variance analyses and present them to the management of the entities under his/her responsibility;
• Produce and distribute monthly financial statements and management reports according to established deadlines;
• Review, approve, and enter journal entries in the accounting system of the companies under his/her supervision;
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations;
• Reconcile monthly cash flows, prepare and present liquidity forecasts for the next twelve months;
• Act as a coach and trainer for the accounting teams of the entities under his/her responsibility;
• Act as a resource person regarding payroll-related procedures;
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies, as well as for other entities under his/her responsibility, through verbal/written communications, spot checks, and occasional visits;
• Assist operational and accounting teams with the development of daily procedures and task lists;
• Produce annual budgets (operational and CAPEX) and prepare monthly forecasts;
• Keep the capital expenditure tracking file up to date for the entities under his/her responsibility;
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of government remittances;
• Supervise year-end activities and the preparation of files for external auditors of the entities under his/her responsibility;
• Act as a resource person for external auditors, government authorities, financial institutions, creditors, and owners/shareholders;
• Design tools aimed at improving the productivity of accounting teams;
• Assist entities with grant applications, if applicable;
• Replace accounting clerks and assistant controllers and participate in bookkeeping activities when needed;
• Perform any other related duties.
Your profile
Skills & Qualities
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role (Controller or Assistant Controller)
• University education in accounting, an asset
• Strong mathematical skills and well‑developed analytical abilities
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Proven communication skills in both French and English, spoken and written
• Initiative, curiosity, discretion, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines
