I'm currently supporting a well-established organization in the insurance and financial services industry that is looking for a Director, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure & IT Operations to lead its technology modernization initiatives and operational transformation strategy.
Mission
As a senior technology leader, you will oversee critical operational teams responsible for platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, operational security, service desk operations and end-user support. You will play a key role in driving reliability, scalability and innovation across the organization's technology ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading Platform Engineering, Cloud Operations, Security Operations and IT Support teams.
Driving the adoption of automation-first approaches, including Infrastructure as Code and Everything as Code practices.
Defining the technology vision, roadmap and governance framework for internal platforms.
Building and evolving an Internal Developer Platform (IDP), golden paths and developer enablement tools.
Implementing and enhancing DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
Governing enterprise AI solutions, including AI infrastructure, security and intelligent agent deployment.
Ensuring platform availability, performance, resiliency and security.
Leading ITSM processes, including incident, problem, change and service management.
Supporting risk management, compliance initiatives and major incident response activities.
Managing budgets, technology vendors and FinOps initiatives to optimize cloud spending.
Your profile
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
10+ years of experience in Information Technology.
Strong background in environments combining DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure and IT Operations.
Proven experience leading technical and cross-functional teams.
Deep understanding of modern cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure.
Hands-on knowledge of:
Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
Automation and scripting
CI/CD pipelines
DevOps and DevSecOps practices
Kubernetes
Networking and virtualization
Windows and Linux environments
Observability and platform reliability
Internal platform governance and engineering standards
AI platforms, AI agents and supporting infrastructure
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence technical direction and mentor senior professionals.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organizational skills.
Experience in a regulated industry is considered a strong asset.
Azure certifications are an asset.
Knowledge of AWS, GCP or macOS environments is also considered an asset.
