Mission

Position Summary
Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Payroll Master is the reference person for all payroll activities within the organization. He or she assumes primary responsibility for producing payroll for all divisions (Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick), ensures legal and regulatory compliance, and supervises the payroll and HR technician.

This role is intended for a recognized expert in the field, capable of evolving processes, guiding a team, and serving as the main point of contact with payroll system providers.

Main Responsibilities
Payroll — Primary Responsibility
• Assume full responsibility for producing payroll cycles for all divisions and entities of the organization (multi-site, multi-province)
• Validate, approve, and submit payroll in the Employer D (Desjardins) and/or Agendrix systems, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
• Supervise the processing of variable elements: overtime, bonuses, vacation, leaves, taxable benefits, and source deductions
• Manage Records of Employment (ROE), government remittances (DAS, CNESST, WSIB, etc.), and year-end obligations (T4, RL-1)
• Act as the reference expert in payroll matters for HR, finance, and operations teams
• Ensure regulatory monitoring and application of current labor standards (QC, ON, NB)

Team Supervision and Development
• Supervise and support the payroll and HR technician on a daily basis
• Ensure training, knowledge transfer, and professional development of the team member
• Allocate tasks, set priorities, and ensure continuity of operations in case of absence

Systems, Controls, and Continuous Improvement
• Lead the configuration, updating, and optimization of payroll systems (Employer D, Agendrix)
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls to ensure payroll data integrity
• Identify automation and process improvement opportunities; lead their implementation
• Contribute to system integration projects during acquisitions or organizational changes

Human Resources — Support
• Ensure the updating of employee files related to HR events (hirings, status changes, departures)
• Respond to complex employee and manager inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and policies
• Support the HR team in cross-functional projects (practice harmonization, compliance, acquisitions)

Your profile

Profil recherché
Formation et expérience
• College diploma (DEC) in accounting, administration or HR techniques, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, including at least 2 years in a senior or coordination role
• Mandatory experience in a multi‑provincial environment (QC / ON / NB)
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or equivalent, a strong asset

Compétences techniques
• Advanced mastery of Employer D (Desjardins) and/or Nethris systems — essential requirement
• In‑depth knowledge of time management systems (Agendrix or equivalent), an asset
• Excellent command of labor standards and payroll regulations in Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick
• Good knowledge of year‑end fiscal processes (T4, RL‑1, government reports)

• Bilingual French/English (spoken and written), required due to interprovincial interactions
