Mission

Position Summary

Our client, a fast-growing manufacturing company specializing in custom technical projects, is looking for a Tactical / Operational Buyer to join its procurement team.

Reporting to the Procurement Director, the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for reviewing purchase requisitions, ensuring their compliance, and issuing purchase orders.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Purchasing
Review purchase requisitions and ensure they include all required information.
Identify inconsistencies or missing details and follow up with internal requesters.
Create and maintain supplier records, part numbers, and purchasing data in the ERP system.
Issue purchase orders and follow up through to delivery.
Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant purchasing records.
Collaboration & Compliance
Work closely with engineering, project, production, and logistics teams.
Challenge purchase requests when necessary and propose solutions that balance operational urgency, compliance, and risk management.
Clearly communicate procurement requirements to internal stakeholders.
Help improve the quality of purchase requisitions and procurement processes.
Supplier Management
Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, quantities, and purchasing terms.
Review price changes and investigate significant variances compared with previous orders.
Conduct occasional negotiations regarding pricing and commercial terms.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with suppliers.

Your profile

Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
Education in procurement, operations management, business administration, logistics, or a related field.
Approximately 2 to 3 years of experience in tactical or operational purchasing, or in a similar role.
Experience in a manufacturing, technical, engineering, or project-based environment is considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.

Technical Skills
Good understanding of the procurement process, from purchase requisition review through purchase order follow-up.
Ability to analyze requisitions and identify errors, inconsistencies, or potential risks.
Experience working with an ERP system; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is considered an asset.
Good command of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of Power BI is considered an asset.
Strong price analysis and supplier negotiation skills.

Specific Requirements
Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
