Mission
A large-scale manufacturing company, specialized in the processing and distribution of food products, is looking for a Buyer based in Montreal. Reporting to the Corporate Senior Buyer, the selected candidate will play a key role in supporting refinery operations by managing the procurement of goods, services, and essential chemicals for production.
Roles and Responsibilities
Process and support purchase requests in internal systems (Maximo / Business Central)
Manage chemical inventory and ensure timely replenishment
Handle and follow up on purchase orders
Analyze and challenge supplier quotes
Identify and qualify new sources of supply
Negotiate purchasing terms and contracts to minimize company risk
Monitor the execution of agreements and service contracts
Collaborate closely with internal teams to achieve procurement objectives
Update and maintain procurement documentation (ISO)
Conduct regular supplier evaluations
Participate in continuous improvement of purchasing processes and budget planning
Manage non-conformities in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers
Coordinate production trials for new chemicals
Provide backup support for other members of the procurement team as needed
Your profile
Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a Supply Chain Management certificate
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Buyer, ideally in the food or manufacturing industry
Excellent understanding of purchasing processes and technical aspects
Basic financial knowledge
Good knowledge of maintenance parts market (plumbing, electrical, packaging, construction materials, etc.) and chemicals
Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Maximo, and Business Central
Knowledge of ISO, HACCP, and FSSC22000 standards
Strong analytical, prioritization, and organizational skills
Autonomy, rigor, sense of responsibility, and stress management
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Team player with a results-oriented mindset
Fluent in French and English (communication with bilingual sites and suppliers)
