Automation Technician – Evening/Night Shift

I’m hiring for Sunset Converting Corp., a fast-growing and forward-thinking company on Montreal’s South Shore, specializing in tissue paper converting. We're looking for a passionate Automation Technician to join their team on the evening or night shift.
Mission
Your Role
At the heart of a highly automated facility, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of production systems. You’ll provide support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automation systems to ensure optimal uptime and performance.
Main responsibilities include:
• Support the integration of new equipment and improve existing automation systems
• Program, troubleshoot, and enhance PLCs and HMI interfaces
• Resolve network and automation-related issues
• Collaborate with operators to improve process efficiency and data access
• Maintain up-to-date backups and ensure system security
• Contribute to documentation and internal programming standards
• Assist in training technicians and interns
• Rigorously follow health and safety rules and change management procedures
Your profile
Your Profile
• College diploma in Electrical, Industrial Electronics, or Automation
• Experience in an automated manufacturing environment (paper converting: a strong asset)
• Proficient with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs (Step 7, WinCC, Simatic S300/S400)
• Knowledge of VFDs – Power Flex, Mitsubishi
• Able to read and interpret electrical diagrams
• Familiar with communication protocols: Ethernet, TCP/IP, Modbus, fiber optics
• Knowledge of the electrical code
• Willing to work evening, night, and/or weekend shifts
• Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and team spirit
