I’m Caroline, a Recruitment Consultant at Fed Finance, a recruitment firm specializing in finance roles. I handle two types of placements: temporary and permanent positions on Montreal’s South Shore. Our team of finance experts speaks your language and operates within your industry. We cover roles in accounting, finance, and payroll.
I am currently seeking a Payroll Specialist for my client based on the South Shore. This is a temporary position in a hybrid work arrangement.
Mission
Payroll & Operations
- Manage the full payroll cycle for Canada (biweekly) and the United States (bimonthly).
- Ensure the accuracy of calculations, deductions (RRSP, 401k), and government withholdings.
- Administer employee benefits, group insurance, and vacation time.
- Respond to internal payroll-related requests and generate employment records.
Accounting & Tracking
- Record payroll entries and reconcile associated expenses (insurance, payroll taxes).
- Track variances, analyze fluctuations, and prepare accruals (bonuses, vacation pay).
- Maintain compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
Year-End Closings & Annual Obligations
- Generate tax forms (T4, RL-1, W-2) and associated filings.
- Perform year-end adjustments and monitor savings plans.
- Participate in salary review and bonus processes.
HR Support
- Manage enrollment in benefit programs and prepare employee documentation.
- Keep HR data up to date and provide reports.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects with HR teams.
Your profile
Education & Experience
- Degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
- 5 to 7 years of payroll experience, ideally in a multi-entity or international environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll standards.
- Proficiency with payroll systems, accounting tools, and Excel.
- Knowledge of employee benefits and group plans.
Personal Skills
- Attention to detail and meticulousness in handling sensitive data.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
- Discretion and strict adherence to confidentiality.
