You will join a complex distribution environment handling a wide variety of products, with receiving, order picking and shipping operations serving customers across Canada and the United States.
Mission
Reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing warehouse operations during the evening shift.
This is a highly hands-on position. You will spend most of your time on the warehouse floor, supervising a team of approximately 20 employees, supported by team leads.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supervising and coordinating daily warehouse activities;
Overseeing receiving, order picking and shipping operations;
Organizing workloads based on operational priorities and volumes;
Maintaining a strong presence on the warehouse floor to support employees and monitor operations;
Coaching, engaging and developing team members;
Monitoring individual and team performance;
Ensuring compliance with operational procedures and standards;
Enforcing health and safety policies and procedures;
Monitoring operational KPIs and performance objectives;
Managing employee relations and disciplinary matters when required;
Using the WMS to monitor workflow and support daily operations;
Resolving day-to-day operational issues;
Working closely with other supervisors to ensure smooth handovers and continuity between shifts.
Your profile
Above all, we are looking for a hands-on people leader who can build strong relationships with employees while maintaining clear expectations and operational discipline.
Minimum 4 to 5 years of supervisory experience;
Experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics or manufacturing;
Strong understanding of receiving, order picking and shipping operations;
Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS);
Experience with AS/400 is a strong asset;
Good understanding of operational KPIs and performance management;
Ability to manage employee performance and disciplinary situations;
Positive, approachable and engaging leadership style;
Ability to work effectively in a complex, fast-paced operational environment;
Experience in a unionized environment is an asset;
Professional proficiency in French;
Functional English is an asset.
For this position, hands-on operational experience and proven people-management skills are valued more highly than formal education.
